Growing Old

One of the main things I have been thinking about lately in life but especially in this body of work is how I don't get to see my family very much. We live a 36 hour drive away from each other, or a very expensive couple flights and 12 hour travel day apart. Usually I see them 1-2 times each year. The idea that I can pretty much count the number of times left that I will see my parents in my lifetime really devastates me. Watching them grow older without me really there in their lives is hard. Knowing I pretty much will never live with or near my sisters again is the heaviest weight I've felt.

The Loss of My Life Collection is about growing old and the choices we make that lead to how we do grow old… who we grow old with, or not, and how different life stories intersect between generations, locations, and perceived loss.
None of the pieces from this collection will be made into prints.
**The wooden frame of this painting was made incorrectly, so the right side is approx. 1” longer than the left, making it a weird shape. The price reflects this issue, it is a great painting anyway!
