The reference photo for this painting comes from late summer last year when I was leaving after my rugby game and was delighted to catch a spectacular sunset. Playing rugby a couple nights each week throughout the summer has given me not only amazing sunsets, but lifelong friends, and a great emotional outlet. For me, this painting is very active, showing that working through one thing just leads to the next thing to work on, on and on such is the circle of life.
Flowers in full bloom, the stage in their cycle before death. Sunsets in spectacular glory, the last show before dark. The Golden Hour Collection, for me, is a delightful celebration of the last decade of painting and my life, and a share of the love I have and had for the many people who came in and went.
